The Ebonyi State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (EBSMEDA) was established as a strategic arm of the Ebonyi State Government to drive inclusive economic growth by empowering small businesses. Launched in alignment with Nigeria’s broader economic diversification agenda, the agency was set up to serve as a bridge between the government and the entrepreneurial ecosystem—providing technical assistance, regulatory support, funding access, and formalization for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the state. From inception, EBSMEDA has focused on building sustainable structures for enterprise development, especially in underserved communities and high-potential economic sectors.

Over the years, EBSMEDA has recorded significant milestones in enterprise empowerment. The agency has facilitated access to funding through grants and low-interest loans, formalized over 5,000 MSMEs, and implemented business support programs in partnership with both local and international agencies.
