The Ebonyi State Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (EBSMEDA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Capital City Development, is championing a new era of inclusive economic development and urban renewal across the capital city.
This partnership is geared toward creating an enabling environment for small businesses, enhancing city infrastructure, and positioning the capital as a hub for innovation, commerce, and investment.
EBSMEDA has worked with the Ministry to ensure that city planning accommodates the needs of small businesses. This includes the development of designated business clusters, market spaces, and innovation zones that support micro and small-scale entrepreneurs.
Through joint efforts, the Ministry has provided improved road networks, lighting, and drainage systems in key business areas, while EBSMEDA has complemented this with capacity-building programs and access to funding for MSMEs operating in those zones.
The collaboration has also focused on upgrading existing markets and creating new commercial spaces that are safe, accessible, and business-friendly. These modern markets now support more vendors and ensure better compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Together, both agencies have launched entrepreneurship training and empowerment initiatives for youth within the capital city. These programs aim to reduce unemployment and promote local job creation through business development.
